If a user is configured with a Contributor role on a newsgroup folder, the permissions for that user may change when the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) service is started. A user with the Contributor role can write to the folder, and the folder is visible to the user. When the NNTP service is started again, a user with the Contributor role can read the items in the folder as well.
