Microsoft Zoo Tycoon has an update that is available to download. The update enhances performance in the area of zoo scalability and maintenance worker artificial intelligence (AI).

Note You do not need to install the update if you have installed Microsoft Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs, Zoo Tycoon: Marine Mania, or Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection.

Zoo Tycoon bonus content includes extra animals, fancy buildings and scenarios. The bonus content requires the latest update to the game only for Zoo Tycoon 1.0 users.

To download the Zoo Tycoon update and bonus items, you must first connect to the Internet.

Note Zoo Tycoon bonus items are no longer available on the following Microsoft Web site: You must download bonus updates with the game.

The Zoo Tycoon 10.9 update enhances performance for the Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition operating systems. It enhances performance slightly for the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP operating systems.

Issues that are improved or fixed include:

•	Guests cannot do what they want.
•	Cannot get more than approximately 600 guests into a zoo.
•	Guests loop in place; animals walk in place.
•	Maintenance worker AI.
•	Terrain blending problem with snow.
•	Zoo admission fees (and marketing) not proportional to guest admissions.
•	Cheat for unlocking Triceratops and Unicorn can cause the computer to stop responding (crash).
•	User-created animals do not recognize the same species correctly.

Download Zoo Tycoon update

Method 1: Download Zoo Tycoon update through the game

1.	On the Main menu, click Get New Zoo Tycoon Items.
2.	Under Check for New Zoo Items, click Check Internet.
3.	Click to select (place a check mark in front of) Zoo Tycoon Update to v10-8 11-20-01 1.51MB. Note If there are other Zoo items available, select only the update.
4.	Click Add Zoo Items.
5.	Click Yes when you receive a prompt to restart Zoo Tycoon.

Method 2: Download Zoo Tycoon manually

If you receive an error message or if the game hangs during the update, visit the Zoo Tycoon Web site to download it manually. To do this, follow these steps:

1.	Visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://download.microsoft.com/download/zootycoon/Patch/2.0/WIN98MeXP/EN-US/ztpatch.exe (http://download.microsoft.com/download/zootycoon/patch/2.0/win98mexp/en-us/ztpatch.exe)
2.	Under Zoo Tycoon Update, click to download the update.
3.	In the Save in dialog box, click Desktop, and then click Save.
4.	When the download finishes, click Close.
5.	Start Zoo Tycoon.
6.	On the Main menu, click Get New Zoo Tycoon Items.
7.	Under Check for New Zoo Items, click Check Locally.
8.	In the Import local Zoo Tycoon updates dialog box, locate the folder that you saved the file in, click Zoo.exe, and then click Open.
9.	Click Yes when you receive a prompted.

Download bonus items

1.	Go to the Main Menu in Zoo Tycoon, and then click Get New Zoo Tycoon Items.
2.	Click Check Internet.
3.	Click the check boxes to add the items that you want to download.
4.	Click the Add Items button.

When the download is finished, Zoo Tycoon restarts. Then, you can select your new scenario or bonus items.
