SYMPTOMS

If you try to post Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) newsgroup items without a subject, the post may not work and you may receive the following error message:
Unable to perform the operation
If you try to post an item as an anonymous user and the post does not have a subject, the post may not work and you may receive the following error message:
Unable to perform the operation
If you try to post an item as an anonymous user, you may receive the following error message, even though the post has a subject:
Resource not found

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

NOTE: Because of file dependencies, this update requires Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem may occur when you use Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) or Microsoft Outlook to post NNTP newsgroup items.
