SYMPTOMS

When you submit a client request to the Web Requests listener on an Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000-based computer, an access violation occurs in the ISA Server2000 Web proxy service.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if both of the following conditions exist:
  • The Web request requires renegotiation. For example, by using client certificate authentication.
  • The Web request contains a body.
ISA Server 2000 incorrectly considers the request body as the beginning of the renegotiation packet and enters the wrong state. This causes an access violation in the Proxy_Request function.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install Service Pack 1 (SP1) for ISA Server 2000. To obtain ISA Server 2000 SP1, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/downloads/isa/2000/servicepacks/sp1.mspx (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/downloads/isa/2000/servicepacks/sp1.mspx)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 Standard Edition
