When you attempt to upgrade to Windows XP, the upgrade report may state that Adaptec GoBack (System Restoration Utility) software is incompatible with Windows XP and should be uninstalled. As a result, Setup cannot continue. This issue occurs even if you have uninstalled the Adaptec GoBack software.
This issue can occur because some of the Adaptec GoBack software files may remain on the hard drive or in the registry after you uninstall GoBack.
To resolve this issue, uninstall all Adaptec software and delete all of the related files. To do this, follow these steps.

Remove Adaptec Registry KeysWarning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
