The file that contains a PivotTable grows each time that it is savedArticle ID: 316446 - View products that this article applies to. This article was previously published under Q316446 SYMPTOMS When you save, close, and reopen an Excel file that
contains a PivotTable, the file may increase in size even if there are no
changes to the data in the file. This problem occurs whether or not you save
the pivot data with the file, and whether or not the data is external to the
Excel file. CAUSE Excel re-creates the drawing objects for the page field
drop-down lists each time it loads the file; however, Excel does not discard
the old unused page fields when it saves the file. RESOLUTION
