SYMPTOMS

If you try to run Microsoft Zoo Tycoon or the Microsoft Zoo Tycoon Demo, you may receive the following error message:

Zoo Tycoon Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you click click here, a dialog box is displayed. It contains the following information about the error:

Error Signature
AppName: <AppName> AppVer: 10.10.0.x ModName: ddraw.dll
ModVer: <ModVer> Offset <Offset>

where <AppName> is zoo.exe or zoodemo.exe
where <ModVer> is a version number less than 4.8.0.400
where <Offset> is any value

CAUSE

This issue occurs when DirectX 8.0a or later is not installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To correct this issue, install Microsoft DirectX 8.0a or later.

To install Microsoft DirectX, download the latest version of DirectX from the following Microsoft Web site:
