Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
On This PageSYMPTOMS When you use the Office XP handwriting recognition and
speech recognition components, you may notice that the computer runs more
slowly than expected. CAUSE This issue may occur if the computer does not meet or
exceed the minimum requirements for processor speed and memory. The Office XP
handwriting recognition and speech recognition components have the following
minimum requirements:

RESOLUTION Because text services (including handwriting recognition
and speech recognition) are already part of Windows XP, Office XP Setup does
not install these components on Windows XP. To turn text services on or off,
use one of the following methods. Control Panel
