WD2002: Memory Leaks Occur When You Check the Spelling of a Document with Dutch Text and English Smart Tags

SYMPTOMS

When you use Word, "memory leaks" may occur every time you check the spelling of a document that contains text that is formatted as "Dutch (Netherlands)." This problem occurs if the document contains a Smart Tag that is marked as "(English)."

Memory leaks can cause a program to run out of resources and stop responding.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

There are three different fixes available. The correct fix for your installation depends on the product you used to install the Dutch proofing tools.

The version of this fix for Dutch Microsoft Office installations has the following file attributes or later:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2).
