SYMPTOMS

Your computer may stop responding (hang) during shutdown if the USB selective suspend option of your USB mouse is turned on.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by a code bug in the Hidclass driver (Hidclass.sys).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
