SUMMARY

Microsoft supports set up and installation for the Crystal Reports products that are included in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, and in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. All other support is provided by Business Objects.

Within Visual Studio 2008, Crystal Reports is known as 'Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008' and is included in the Professional Edition and higher.

Licensing

Developers can use Crystal Reports for Visual Studio to do the following:
  • Design unlimited reports for use in Visual Studio applications with the integrated Crystal Reports designer.
  • Integrate the Crystal Reports runtime engine into thick client Microsoft Windows applications.
    • Thick client applications with the embedded runtime engine can be freely redistributed both within and outside the developers’ own organization.
  • Integrate the Crystal Reports runtime engine into Web applications.
    • Web applications with the embedded runtime engine can be freely redistributed within the developers’ own organization.
