SNMP Management Programs May Stop Responding If Invalid Trap Frames Are Received

SYMPTOMS

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) management programs may stop responding (hang) when they receive trap frames that are not valid.

CAUSE

The problem occurs because of memory errors.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
