Some features still appear in English in Microsoft Excel when the MUI is installed
This article was previously published under Q317983 SYMPTOMS
When you use Excel with the Multilingual User Interface (MUI), the following features still appear in English:
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because of a limitation in the design of the MUI feature. For more information about all MUI limitations in Microsoft Office programs, see the Microsoft Office Resource Kit documentation file that is named the IntLimit.xls file. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site, as appropriate for the version of Office that you are runnng:
For Microsoft Office System 2003: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2003/HA011401811033.aspx (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2003/HA011401811033.aspx) For Microsoft Office XP:http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/orkXP/HA011362911033.aspx (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/orkXP/HA011362911033.aspx) For Microsoft Office 2000:http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2000/HA011383171033.aspx (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2000/HA011383171033.aspx) WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, obtain a localized version of Office. Because not all features have plug-in language capability, Office is localized in many languages for people who want to use all Office features in their own language. Localized versions of Office are compatible with versions of Office that are installed together with Language Packs. That is, people who use one language version can easily share documents with people who use other language versions. MORE INFORMATION
The MUI is installed from Microsoft Office MultiLanguage Packs. The MUI allows you to change the program and Help interfaces to dozens of languages, and provides proofing tools for even more languages.
