FIX: SQL Server ODBC Driver Calls iswctype Excessively Causing Slower Performance

SYMPTOMS

When you profile an application that uses the SQL Server ODBC driver and calls the ODBC functions SQLPrepare, SQLExecute, and SQLExecDirect, you may observe an excessive amount of CPU time in the iswctype C run-time function.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

NOTE: This hotfix is intended for use only with MDAC 2.6 Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2. Also note that MDAC 2.7 does not resolve this issue.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3.
