SYMPTOMS

If you use a mobile device that is running Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 with the Microsoft Server ActiveSync client update to synchronize Inbox, Contact, or Calendar items with Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, you may receive the following error message on your device:
Synchronization failed due to an error on the server. Try again.
Error code: HTTP_500

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you are using the Nextags tool and you selected the DevMode check box under the DevOnly category. You can use the Nextags tool that is located on the Mobile Information Server 2002 compact disc (CD) to trace synchronization information between the client and server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, start the Nextags tool, click to clear the DevMode check box, and then click Apply.
