When you try to connect your Sony digital video (DV) camera that uses IEEE 1394 (FireWire) technology to your Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, Windows XP may not correctly detect the camera. When you plug the camera into the FireWire port on your computer, or when you turn on the power to your camera while it is connected to your computer, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Additionally, if you look for your DV camera in Device Manager when this issue occurs, your DV camera may be displayed by a label that is similar to the following:
An error has occurred with your capture device.
Sony DV Camera #2Note To open Device Manager, right-click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager in the left pane.
This issue may occur when a Serial Bus Protocol 2 (SBP2) storage device is attached to the same computer that you connect the Sony DV camera to.
Note Examples of an SBP2 storage device include an external FireWire-connected hard disk and an external FireWire-connected recordable DVD drive.
