"The Active Directory Property Cannot Be Found in the Cache" Error Message Occurs When You Retrieve "Mail" and "MhsORAddress" Attributes
This article was previously published under Q319192 SYMPTOMS
If you try to retrieve mail attributes and mhsORAddress attributes from a third-party Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory, you may receive the following error messages:
The Active Directory property cannot be found in the cache.
-and-
Can't convert from native data type.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because DsClient for Windows NT 4.0 does not recognize a syntax of 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.33 (LDAPTYPE_CASEIGNORESTRING); therefore, it cannot retrieve attributes that use this syntax. Because Microsoft Windows 2000 does not use this syntax for attributes that are defined in the Active Directory schema, this problem is only likely to occur when you try to access third-party LDAP directories.
