Article ID: 319197 - Last Review: December 1, 2007 - Revision: 1.5 INFO: Windows Does Not Support 1394 Bridging
This article was previously published under Q319197 SUMMARY
These Microsoft Windows products do not support 1394 bridging.
MORE INFORMATION
The IEEE 1394 driver stack (for example, the Ohci1394.sys and 1394bus.sys drivers) does not currently support 1394 bridge devices or bridging between multiple 1394 buses. The IEEE 1394-1995 specification defines that the local bus ID is 0x3FF, therefore, all local bus operations use the bus number 0x3FF. In a hardware configuration where multiple 1394 buses are joined (also known as bridged), Microsoft does not guarantee that 1394 devices attached to either side of the bridge will behave the same as devices attached on the local 1394 bus. This feature is under review and will be considered for inclusion in a future release. APPLIES TO
