DVDs and music CDs may run automatically, and this may occur even if the "AutoRun" registry value of the CD-ROM drive is turned off. This symptom may occur with hot-plug CD-ROM drives.

How to Obtain the Latest Windows 2000 Service Pack

A value of 0xb5 in the following registry key turns off the AutoRun feature for CDs:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun
Microsoft does not recommend that you use the following registry key to turn off the AutoPlay feature:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom\Autorun
