OL2002: You Receive a MAPI_E_INVALID_ENTRYID Error When You Select a LDAP Server in the Address Book

SYMPTOMS

If you open the Address Book in Outlook 2002 and select a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server, you may receive the following error message:
MAPI_E_INVALID_ENTRYID

CAUSE

This problem may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You migrated from Microsoft Outlook 2000. -and-

  • Your Outlook 2000 profile included the LDAP service before migration.
NOTE: This problem does not occur if you re-create your profile after you migrate from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2002.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
