SYMPTOMS

When you use the Portuguese (Brazilian) proofing tools and add an entry to the Custom.dic file that contains the at sign (@), you receive the following error message:

The custom dictionary filename is not available.

This error message occurs whether you add the at sign by itself, or as part of a longer string, such as an e-mail address.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
