WD2000: Error Message Appears When Scrolling with Mouse in Document

When you open a document and use the mouse to scroll through the document, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. To temporarily work around this problem, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Save As Word 6.0/95

To save your document as Word 6.0/95, follow these steps:

1. Open the document that is causing the problem. Do not try to scroll through the document.
2. On the File menu, click Save As.
3. In the Save As dialog box, change the Save as type box to Word 6.0/95 (*.doc), type a different document name in the File name box, and then click Save.
4. Close the document, and then reopen the Word 6.0/95 document that you saved in step 3.

Method 2: Work in Normal View

To open the document in Normal view, follow these steps:

1. Open the document that is causing the problem. Do not try to scroll through the document.
2. On the View menu, click Normal.
3. On the File menu, click Save, and then click Close .
4. On the File menu, click Open, and then reopen the file.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3.
