Article ID: 321648 - Last Review: October 25, 2007 - Revision: 7.4 You Cannot Install Exchange 2000 on a Computer That Is Running Windows Server 2003This article was previously published under Q321648 SUMMARY This article contains information about supported
configurations of Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft operating systems. Exchange 2000 is not supported on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Because of this, Exchange 2000 is blocked from installing on the Windows Server 2003 family. Also, operating system upgrades from Microsoft Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003 flag Exchange 2000 as incompatible. If you upgrade an Exchange 2000 server from Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003, or try to install Exchange 2000 for the first time on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, the Exchange 2000 upgrade or installation does not work, and you receive an error message that states that no version of Exchange 2000 can be installed on Windows Server 2003. MORE INFORMATION The following table shows supported configurations of
Exchange and Microsoft operating systems (where an X signifies that the
configuration is supported, a blank signifies that the configuration is not

The Exchange 2000 version of the Active Directory Connector is not supported on Windows Server 2003. However, the Exchange 2000 version of the Active Directory Connector is supported in a mixed-mode domain controller environment where the domain controllers are running Windows Server 2003.
