OL2000: You Cannot Maximize Outlook If the 'Opening Mail Attachment' Dialog Box Opens While Outlook 2000 Is Minimized

SYMPTOMS

You cannot maximize Outlook 2000 if the Open Attachment dialog box opens in the background while Outlook 2000 is minimized. The Open Attachment dialog box does not appear on the screen, and the only way that you can maximize Outlook 2000 is to switch tasks in Task Manager.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you are using a slow internet connection and if you have an attachment that is large enough to give you the time to minimize Outlook 2000 before the Open Attachment dialog box opens.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not minimize Outlook 2000 until after the Open Attachment dialog box opens.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3).
