Error SignatureThis article addresses a problem that may have the following error signatures:
Program name Program version Module name ------------------------------------------------------------ Morpheus Browser Helper Object 1.0.10 Mbho.dll
When you connect to any of over 600 affiliated merchant Web site for which LinkShare provides services, the Web address that you enter is redirected to the LinkShare Web site at http://www.LinkShare.com
This behavior is caused by a browser helper object (BHO) that hooks into Internet Explorer.
To work around this behavior, rename the Mbho.dll file to Mbho.bak in the %Windir%\System32 folder.
LinkShare provides technology that permits some of the largest vendors on the Internet to advertise their products through the LinkShare Web sites. When these merchants end their business relationships with LinkShare, requests for their sites are automatically redirected to the LinkShare Web site. However, the behavior that is mentioned in this article is not part of the technology that LinkShare provides.
The redirect is caused by the Morpheus browser helper object. Morpheus client users can search for and find almost any type of digital file (audio, video, photos, reference data, reports, or documents) by using a secure peer-to-peer network. In March, 2002, StreamCast Networks, the operators of Morpheus, began bundling software that is known as a browser helper object (BHO) with the program. The browser helper object, which was developed by Wurld Media, is part of the Morpheus Shopping Club. This is a service that is designed to provide Morpheus users with cash rebates and other rewards for shopping at participating merchants.
