WD2000: Word Stops Responding If You Run the Spelling Checker on Swedish Text

SYMPTOMS

If you use the spelling checker on Swedish text, Word stops responding (crashes), and you receive an error message similar to the following:
Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the text contains an opening parenthesis followed by a blank space and a paragraph mark.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The Swedish-language version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3).
