OL2002: Outlook May Quit When You Access the 'Permission' Tab in a Public Folder

SYMPTOMS

If you access the Permission tab on the property page of a public folder or click the Add button in the Permission dialog box, Outlook 2002 may quit unexpectedly. This problem occurs if you add a large number of users (greater than 50) to an Access Control List (ACL) for a public folder.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

   Date           Size      File name     
   ------------------------------------------

After the fix is installed, the English-language version of this fix will have the file attribute (or later) that is listed in the following table. The dates and times for this file are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2).
