NTLM Authentication Does Not Work If Internet Explorer Is Configured to Use HTTP 1.1 Through Proxy Connections

HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections setting and NTLM authentication is
configured on both the Web proxy (such as Microsoft Internet Security and
Acceleration Server 2000) and the Web server (such as Microsoft Internet
Information Services), Internet Explorer does not authenticate with the Web
server and you receive the following error message: You
are not authorized to view this page 401.1 Unauthorized logon failed CAUSE This issue is caused by incorrect detection of HTTP
keep-alives while Wininet.dll processes the NTLM challenge from the Web server.

correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to
