"Run-Time Error 76" or "Could Not Create the Subweb" error message when you install Microsoft SharePoint Team Services for Microsoft Project Server

When you try to install Microsoft SharePoint Team Services for Microsoft Project Server, you may receive one of the following error messages: When you try to create a subweb from SharePoint Team Services directly (for example, http://ServerName), you may receive the following error message:

The Microsoft FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions on your server may conflict with the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions for Microsoft SharePoint Team Services, which is the version that Microsoft Project Server uses. This problem may also occur if the following directory is not deleted when Sharepoint Team Services is uninstalled: If this directory is deleted, the install program works as expected.

To work around this issue, follow these steps.

Remove SharePoint Team Services

Remove SharePoint Team Services (if you tried to install it before you received the error messages). To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type inetmgr in the Open box, and then click OK to start the Internet Information Services Manager.
2. Expand the Web site that you provisioned SharePoint to (for example Default Web site), and then locate the following folder:
   MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments
3. Right-click the MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments folder, and then click Delete to delete the folder.
4. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
5. Double-click Add\Remove Programs, select Microsoft SharePoint, and then click Remove.

Remove the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add\Remove Programs, and then click Add\Remove Windows Components.
3. On the Components menu, select Internet Information Services (IIS), and then click Details.
4. Click to clear the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions check box, and then click Next.
5. Follow the steps in the wizard to remove the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions. Restart your server.
   
   Note You must restart the server after you remove the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions.

Install Microsoft SharePoint Team Services for Microsoft Project Server

Install Microsoft SharePoint Team Services for Microsoft Project Server by using the SharePoint Configuration Wizard on the Microsoft Project Server CD-ROM.

Tip You can run the executable file for the wizard from a command line. The executable file (STSWiz.exe) is located in the Support folder on the Microsoft Project Server CD-ROM.
