SYMPTOMS

When you try to install SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft for Microsoft Project Server, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
SharePoint Configuration Wizard

Setup error:

The subweb MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments does not contain the correct schema for Microsoft Project Server.

To correct the schema, delete this subweb, and run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard again. If the subweb already contains data, you may want to move the data to a new subweb first, and then delete this subweb

CAUSE

This behavior may be caused by either of the following conditions:
  • Cause 1: The MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments subweb folder was installed previously during a SharePoint Team Services installation and was not removed in Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Cause 2: The MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments subweb folder was removed from the following location, instead of being deleted from your Web site in IIS:
    C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ms_projectserver_publicdocuments

NOTE: If you delete the subweb folder from the location shown earlier in this article, the folder information is not removed from the IIS metadata. Remnants of the files exist in the metadata.
