When you try to install a patch for Office XP or for one of the Office programs that is listed at the beginning of this article, you may receive a message that prompts you to insert a CD-ROM for another program or patch.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if there is an earlier version of Office or a stand-alone Office product installed on your computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, remove the earlier version of Office or stand-alone Office product, and then repair Office. For example, if you have Word 2002 and Office XP installed, remove Word 2002. NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps. Use one of the following methods. Method 1 requires that you have the product CD to remove the program. If you do not have the CD, use Method 2 or Method 3.
