"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" error message when you open an HTML message in Outlook 2002

SYMPTOMS

When you open an HTML message in Outlook 2002, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library (Path to Outlook.exe) Abnormal Program Termination.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if McAfee VirusScan is installed on your computer and the Exchange Scan add-in is turned on in Outlook 2002. Exchange Scan can cause a conflict with Outlook 2002.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, turn off the Exchange Scan add-in in Outlook. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Start Outlook 2002.
2.On the Tools menu, click Options.
3.In the Options dialog box, select the Other tab, and then click Advanced Options.
4.In the Advanced Options dialog box, click Add-In Manager.
5.In the Add-In Manager dialog box, click to clear the Exchange Scan check box.
6.Click OK three times to close the dialog boxes.
