Zoo Tycoon: How to Troubleshoot Performance Issues in Zoo Tycoon and Dinosaur Digs Expansion Pack

This article describes some general steps you can use to troubleshoot performance issues in the products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To troubleshoot poor performance, follow these steps in the order in which they appear. After you complete each step, test to determine whether the issue is resolved.

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

Step 1: Start a New Game

To determine if the problem exists in the currently saved game file, save the current game and start a new game. If the issue does not reappear, there is a problem with your saved game file. Delete the damaged file.

Step 2: Verify the System Requirements

Step 3: Download the Zoo Tycoon Update

Note This step is not necessary if you have Dinosaur Digs or Marine Mania installed on your computer.

Step 4: Change Video Options

1. Start Zoo Tycoon, and then click Options.
2. In the Game Options window, click Sound and Video Options.
3. Click 800 x 600 to change the screen resolution.
4. Under Terrain Blending, click Don't Blend.
