You cannot use the mouse to advance a slide show in PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you click the mouse to advance your slide show, the current slide may not change.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when the show is set to be presented automatically (the Browse at a kiosk (full screen) option is turned on).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Press ESC to end the slide show.
  2. On the Slide Show menu, click Set Up Show.
  3. Under Show type, click either Presented by a speaker (full screen) or Browsed by an individual (window), and then click OK.
  4. On the Slide Show menu, click Slide Transition.
  5. Under Advance Slide, click to select the On mouse click check box, and then click Apply to All Slides. (In Power Point 2000, click to select the On mouse click check box under Advance, and then click Apply to All).
