Article ID: 326570 - Last Review: February 1, 2007 - Revision: 6.4 Cannot access network resources after you establish a Dial-up Networking connection and log on to the domain
This article was previously published under Q326570 SYMPTOMSAfter you establish a Dial-Up Networking connection and log
on to the server using your domain user name and password, and you try to
access a domain resource, you may be prompted to enter your domain user name
and password or you may be denied access to the resource. CAUSEThis problem may occur when your Internet service provider
(ISP) credentials are incorrectly used for authentication instead of your
domain credentials. Your credentials for the dial-up networking connection to
the Internet are stored in Stored User Names and Passwords. This occurs when
these credentials override your cached domain credentials that are also stored
in Stored User Names and Passwords. RESOLUTION A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix. If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix. Note If additional issues occur or if any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request.
