XL2000: File Name Does Not Appear in the Recently Used File List on the File Menu

SYMPTOMS

In Excel 2000, any file whose path, including its file name, contains more than 127 characters does not appear in the recently used file list on the File menu.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
  • Change the path so that the path, including the file name, is 127 or fewer characters.
  • Open the file by using the Open command on the File menu.
