SYMPTOMS

After you run the Internet Connection Wizard with Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server packet filters turned on and the My Web Server option selected, the Enable SSL listeners option in ISA Server is turned on. If the Enable SSL listeners option is turned on, the TCP port 443 on the server is opened. However, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is not fully implemented until you install a server certificate. Therefore, the port is open but not in use.

RESOLUTION

If you do not plan to use SSL, follow these steps to close TCP port 443 to traffic:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft ISA Server, and then click ISA Management.
  2. Expand Servers and Arrays.
  3. Right-click your server, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Incoming Web Requests tab.
  5. Click to clear the Enable SSL listeners check box.
  6. Click OK, and then click Save the changes and restart the service(s).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
