When you try to copy a directory that contains extended attributes to a partition formatted with FAT32, you receive the following error message:
Cannot create or replace directory. The mounted file system does not support extended attributes.
CAUSE
FAT32 partitions do not support extended attributes. When you copy files, the extended attributes are discarded. When you try to copy directories with extended attributes, the operation is unsuccessful and you receive the error message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
