XL2000: Data Appears on Left Side of Preview, or Excel Stops Responding When You Use Print Preview or Maximize Workbook

SYMPTOMS

When you view your workbook in print preview and you press the Zoom button, the data may appear to be compressed on the left side of the preview. When you click Close to close the preview, Excel 2000 may generate an application error message, and may stop responding (hang). Excel 2000 may stop responding if you maximize a workbook after you minimize Excel 2000.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

After the hotfix is installed, the English version of this fix will have the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server client from your computer.
