1 Setup

You must have administrative privileges to install Office XP
Pack for Tablet PC (Tablet Pack). Ensure that you are an administrator
on this tablet computer before starting installation of Tablet
Pack.

The first time that you start any Office program after
installing Tablet Pack, you will be prompted to enable
Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC. Tap the Enable
Macros button. If you don't want to see this dialog box
each time you open this Office program, select the Always
trust macros from this source check box, and then tap the
Enable Macros button.

The first time that you start Microsoft Windows Journal
after installing Tablet Pack, you will be prompted to enable
Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC. Tap the Yes button.
If you don't want to see this dialog box each time you open
Windows Journal, select the Always trust content from Microsoft
Corporation check box, and then tap the Yes button.
To initiate an administrative installation, as well as to
extract the Windows Installer Package from opsetup.exe, use
the following command line option:

opsetup.exe /c:"msiexec /a ""Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet
PC.msi"""

Uninstalling Tablet Pack does not always remove the Tablet
Pack user interface (UI) elements from Microsoft Word, Excel
and PowerPoint. You may need to manually remove the UI elements.

To remove the UI elements:
1. Open an Office program.
2. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and tap Customize.
3. Drag each Tablet Pack UI element out of the toolbars or menus.
Each item will disappear, after you drag it away from the menu or toolbar.
After you uninstall Tablet Pack, Pointer Options |
Pen will be missing from the popup menu in PowerPoint slide show view.

To make Pointer Options | Pen available in slide show view:
1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and tap Customize.
2. On the Toolbars tab, select Shortcut Menus, and then tap Reset.
3. Tap OK.

2 General Office
Cut and copy operations within the ink drawing and writing area
do not appear on the Office Clipboard until the Office Clipboard
is closed and reopened. If you want to see the copied contents,
close the Office Clipboard and then open it again.
Sometimes ink areas do not redraw properly during or after
scrolling.
If an ink area seems to be incorrectly displayed, try minimizing
and then maximizing the program window.
If you customize the Tablet Pack UI elements on the menus or
toolbars, the modifications will be lost after you restart the
Office program. We recommend that you do not customize the Tablet
Pack toolbar or menu items.
If you do not see your ink after you have pasted it, reactivate
the ink area to see the ink.
There have been some performance issues with hardware drivers
on the Tablet PC. Please upgrade to the newest hardware drivers
to resolve performance issues. To learn about hardware drivers
and how to upgrade them, please refer to your hardware manufacturer's
documentation.
When you use the Ink Color or Ink Style lists on the Ink
toolbar to customize pen settings, the settings are only
available temporarily. When you close the program, the pens
return to the default settings.

3 Microsoft Word

3.1 Ink Word E-Mail
We recommend that you do not use Word as your Rich Text
e-mail message reader, because it causes significant problems
when using ink in e-mail.

To turn off Word as your Rich Text e-mail message reader:
1. On the Tools menu, tap Options
2. On the Mail Format tab, under Message format, tap to
clear the Use Microsoft Word to read Rich Text e-mail
messages check box. E-mail in Rich Text Format (RTF)
containing an ink area can be large. To minimize the file
size and required server space, use Hypertext Markup Language
(HTML) format for your messages.

To set Outlook to use HTML for outgoing messages:
1. On the Tools menu, tap Options
2. Tap the Mail Format tab.
3. Under Message format, in the Compose in this message
format list, tap HTML.
If you set the e-mail format to Plain Text or reply to a
Plain Text e-mail, you cannot insert an ink area. Switch the
e-mail format to either HTML or Rich Text, tap in the body
of the message, and then try again.

To switch the e-mail format to HTML:
On the Address toolbar, in the Message format list, tap HTML.
If you want the ink area to be attached to replies to your
message, use HTML format.
Replies to RTF-format messages do not include the ink area.
3.2 Ink Comments
If you adjust the width of an ink area, the comment balloon
size will not change to accommodate the new width.

4 Microsoft PowerPoint
4.1 Slide Show Ink Comments
If you have multiple slide shows running, you can only write
or draw in the first slide show. You cannot add ink to any of
the other slide shows.

If PowerPoint prompts you to repair the speech recognition
files when a slide show begins, and you decline the repair,
the pointer may not indicate the ink tool state. To avoid this,
repair the speech recognition files when prompted to do so.

If you switch to pen mode while the pointer is invisible, the
pointer for the pen may not appear.

Animations in slide show will temporarily erase any ink
added to the slide. To display the ink on the slide, switch
to another window and then back to the slide show window.

Ink added to the slide may disappear if you rotate the
screen. To display the ink on the slide, switch to another
window and then switch back to the slide show window.

To use ink features successfully in multiple-monitor
configurations, ensure that the primary monitor has equal to
or higher resolution than the secondary monitor.
