Article ID: 330462 - Last Review: October 27, 2006 - Revision: 1.3 MMIS: How to Troubleshoot Server ActiveSync "MIS_errorcodes" Error Messages
This article was previously published under Q330462 SUMMARY When you synchronize your Pocket PC device with an Exchange 2000 Server computer,
you may receive error messages that contain error codes on your device or in
the Nextags log file. This article describes the various "MIS_errorcodes" error messages that you may receive. MORE INFORMATIONThe
error codes described in the "More Information" section of this article indicate that the error is generated by the Mobile
Information Server computer with the Server ActiveSync component
installed. MIS_0 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_INVALID) MIS_1 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_SUCCESS) MIS_2 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_PROTOCOL_VER): Synchronization software version for this mobile device is not supported on the server you specified. Automatic synchronization is now disabled. Explanation: These errors may occur if the client and the server are not using the same protocol
version. MIS_3 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_SYNCKEY): Sync key mismatch error. To restart
sync, disable and then re-enable Server ActiveSync on the device for the
particular data type that failed (for example, Calendar, Contacts, or
Inbox).Resolution: Make sure that the Server Sync client update on the device is intended for use with the version of Mobile Information Server on the server. Install either ActiveSyncUpdate.cab from the Pocket PC directory on the MIS 1.5 Enterprise Edition CD-ROM or the latest Pocket PC 2002 update from the maker of your Pocket PC computer. Explanation: This error may be reported if the device was restored from an
older backup, if the user's Microsoft Exchange account was restored or moved to a
different server, or if the Mobile Information Server program on the server
was updated. MIS_4 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_PROTOCOL): Synchronization cannot be completed
successfully because of a server software error. Contact your network
administrator. Resolution: Disable and then re-enable Server Sync for the data types that are being synchronized. MIS_5 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_SYNC_SERVER): Synchronization failed because of a server software error. If the problem continues, contact your network administrator. Explanation: The Exchange server is not available. MIS_6 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_CONVERSION)Resolution: Retry the synchronization operation after your Exchange server becomes available. Additional troubleshooting information: The provisioned user may be corrupted. Create another account and mailbox. Provision the new user account and then use the Mailbox Merge utility (Exmerge.exe) to import the users mailbox content to the new mailbox. Try to log on by using the new user account and mailbox. Additional troubleshooting information: These errors may occur if you are using a newer version of the sync ROM that is not compatible with the version of Microsoft Server Active Sync (MSAS) on your server. MIS_7 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_CONFLICT) MIS_8 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_OBJ_NOT_FOUND): Synchronization of Inbox cannot be completed successfully. Your device must sync all Inbox information with the sync server. Explanation: These errors may occur if the synchronization server cannot open the
Inbox folder on the Exchange server. It may also occur with the Calendar and
Contacts. MIS_9 (SYNC_STATUS_CODE_DISK_SPACE): Synchronization failed. There is
not enough space in your Exchange mailbox to synchronize information.
Delete old items to increase space and try again. Resolution: A recovery synchronization operation will be performed automatically during a later sync operation. Explanation: This error may occur if you are nearing the mailbox limits set on
your Exchange server. Resolution: To resolve this issue, delete items in your mailbox to bring it under the specified limits. Contact your Exchange administrator to change the limits on your mailbox | Other Resources Other Support Sites
