SYMPTOMS

After you apply Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1, you may notice that you cannot put your computer on standby or hibernate. You may also receive the following message on your screen:
ATI WDMTV Tuner device is preventing the machine from entering standby/hibernate. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by an issue with the Stream.sys driver that is included in Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1). A computer that has the All-In-Wonder RADEON 7500 TV tuner device may face this problem.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
