This article describes the minimum system requirements to
install and run the full range of programs included in Works Suite 2003.
The following are the minimum system requirements to
install and run Works Suite 2003:
- A multimedia computer with a Pentium 300-megahertz
(MHz)-or-faster processor (a 500-MHz processor recommended).
- One of the following operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows 98
- Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2
(SP2)
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition
- 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM for Windows 98, Windows Me, or
Windows 2000 SP2 (128 MB of RAM recommended).
- 96 MB of RAM for Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP
Professional Edition (128 MB of RAM recommended).
- 1050 MB of available hard-disk space for the typical
installation of Works Suite 2003. Custom installations may require more or less
hard disk space.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.
Note Internet Explorer 6 is included on your Works Suite 2003 CD-ROM.
Up to an additional 85 MB of hard-disk space may be required for Internet
Explorer installation. This installation will not replace your primary browser.
- A quad-speed-or-faster CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
- A Super VGA 16-bit color monitor that supports a resolution
of 800 x 600 dots per inch (dpi) or higher.
- 1 MB of video RAM.
- A Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft Intellimouse, or compatible
pointing device.
Required by Some Features
- A 16-bit sound card with speakers or headphones.
- A 33.6 kilobits per second (Kbps)-or-faster
modem.
- An Internet connection.
Note Access to the Internet may require payment of a fee to an
Internet service provider. Local and long distance telephone charges may
apply. - Microsoft Exchange Server, SMTP and POP3, IMAP4, or other
Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI)-compliant messaging software
for e-mail functionality.
- Microsoft Passport Network .
Required for Synchronization of Works Data on an External Handheld Device
- A Microsoft Windows CE 2.0-or-later-based device with
ActiveSync 3.0.
- A Palm 3.0-or-later compatible device with HotSync
2.0.
