This article describes known video-related issues that you may experience when you play Age of Mythology. The information covers both general video issues and issues that occur only with specific video hardware. This article also includes information about unsupported video adapters.

To resolve this issue, quit Age of Mythology, and then restart the program.

Mouse Pointer DisappearsWhen you press ALT+TAB to switch to another program or to change the in-game screen resolution, the mouse pointer disappears.

Monitor and Video Adapter IssuesWhen you try to use a high resolution setting, you see brief flashing. This behavior may occur when you use an old video adapter. This behavior does not affect game performance or stability.
To resolve this behavior, quit Age of Mythology, use the Age of Mythology Safe Video shortcut under Diagnostics to restart the game, and then switch to a lower resolution under Options.
Note Age of Mythology requires that graphics hardware acceleration be turned on. You may see the mouse cursor with the black screen in the background if 3D acceleration is turned off.

When you try to start or play Age of Mythology on Hewlett-Packard or Toshiba laptops with the ATI Radeon M6, the game may quit unexpectedly or stop responding, or the computer may shut down or restart. You may also receive the following error message:

If the latest drivers are installed on your computer but the issue continues to occur, wait for your manufacturer to release newer video adapter drivers that are compatible with Age of Mythology or return the game at the point of purchase.

This issue may occur if the video adapter drivers are outdated. To obtain the latest video adapter drivers, contact your computer manufacturer. If the latest drivers do not resolve the issue, add parameters to the Age of Mythology shortcut to workaround this issue.
