You Cannot Change the Dial-Up Connection Phone Number

When you try to use a dial-up connection to connect to the Internet, the modem does not dial or it misdials the phone number. If you try to use the phone book to change or correct the dial-up connection phone number, the entries are not available or they are not correct.

This behavior occurs if you have two modems installed on your computer and one of the modems is disabled.

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
