This article describes update 4022215 for Microsoft Office 2016 that was released on September 4, 2018. This update has a prerequisite.

Be aware that the update on the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to the Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?)

Improvements and fixes

This update fixes the following issue:

Assume that an application add-in or a macro in a .docm file frequently calls Application.ScreenUpdating (for example, in response to the Application.WindowSelectionChange event). When you are frequently changing the position of the cursor in the document canvas (for example, using the up and down arrow keys), you see a flicker of the ribbon and status bar on some PC configurations. This issue could affect all Office Win32 applications where the calls to Application.ScreenUpdating are triggered frequently.
