SUMMARY

In an Exchange organization of multiple servers and/or multiple storage groups, you attempt to add a database to recover within a Recovery Storage Group and the only available choices are from a specific storage group.

SYMPTOMS

In an Exchange organization of multiple servers and/or multiple storage groups, you attempt to add a database to recover within a Recovery Storage Group and the only available choices are from a specific storage group.

CAUSE

The Recovery Storage Group already contains a database. By design, once a database has been added to the RSG, Exchange prevents adding databases from other storage groups even if the database is not mounted.

RESOLUTION

Delete the existing database from the Recovery Storage Group.
