Works: What the X and Check Mark in Works Formula Bar Are For

SUMMARY

The formula bar in the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet and Database modules contains an X and a check mark when Works is in Edit mode. Typing in the current cell, pressing F2, or clicking the formula bar will cause Works to go into Edit mode.

MORE INFORMATION

Once you have typed text in the formula bar, clicking the check mark will accept what you have typed. Clicking the check mark is equivalent to pressing ENTER.

Clicking the X will cancel the entry and remove any changes you made to the text in the formula bar. Clicking the X is equivalent to pressing ESC.
