SYMPTOMS

After Microsoft MS-DOS version 5.0 or later as been installed on a Vendex Headstart XT computer, the date will not display correctly. When the correct date is set, this system continues to display the incorrect year.

CAUSE

A file called ST.COM is responsible for maintaining the correct date and time on the Vendex Headstart XT computer. ST.COM was written specifically for this computer for use with MS-DOS version 3.2 ONLY. This file will not maintain the correct year under any other version of MS-DOS. However, the time, month, and day settings will be correctly maintained by ST.COM. According to Philips technical support, the only workaround is to purchase a compatible 8-bit clock card to maintain proper settings.
