The Automatic Update Client Displays the Settings Dialog Box Incorrectly

SYMPTOMS

When the Windows Update Automatic Update client (Wuauclt.exe) runs for the first time in the notification area on the right side of the taskbar, you see a configuration dialog box. This dialog box may be sized incorrectly.

WORKAROUND

Dismiss the dialog box by clicking the Close button (the X in the upper-right corner of the dialog box), and the use the Automatic Updates properties in the System tool in Control Panel to configure the Automatic Update client.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.
